Mechanical Designer

The Ideal Candidate have experience working in a manufacturing firm that produces mechanical and electrical components and assemblies. You will have experience designing new products and have extensive experience with sheet metal or cabinet design. You will be supporting an engineering and design team in the low voltage electrical distribution equipment division.



This Design Professional will take direction from the Product Engineer and assistance to meet assigned objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues.  You will be taking existing models and adjusting for variations in designs.

  • Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, the analysis, design, test, or integration required to define, and support assigned components, assemblies or systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements
  • Work with engineers and other designers on updating BOMs.
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures



  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering Field
  • High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering, technical design role
  • Proficient with design software
  • Experience designing electrical industrial cabinet systems and components for breaker panels, switchgears, and/or power generation controls (this is not a printed circuit board design position)
  • Experience with Sheet Metal design for enclosures
  • Able to take existing drawings and modifying them to meet global markets
  • Understand mechanical system, and layout drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
  • Motivated team player, pro-active, results-oriented

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • 5-10 Years’ experience mechanical design for Low Voltage Electrical distribution equipment
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Design Software
  • Experience preparing and writing technical bids/proposals for RFQs
  • GE, Alstom, or ABB Experience, a plus
  • Exposure to development from scratch with Electrical products background, preferred
  • Proficient with Windchill a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering Field
